Involvement in Church Structures
Our members have over the years served the Church on various non-musical structures. Henry Isaac Hitzeroth, Henry Alexander Hitzeroth, William Daniels, Frederick Brown, James Brown, Basil Brown, Peter Jantjes, Fadiela Johnson, Shanaaz Johnson, Samatha Mostert and others have all served on the Salem Church Council.

Tyrone Hitzeroth represented BBSA at Provincial Synods of the Moravian Church in South Africa (MCSA) in 1998 and 2001, and thereafter served as Legal Referee at several Synods until 2013. He also served as legal adviser to the committee responsible for the drafting of a new constitution uniting the former Eastern and Western Regions of the MCSA.

Jo-Lynn Telling has been representing BBSA at Provincial Synods of the MCSA since 2008. She has also represented the MCSA at the Luksa Gender Justice Empowerment Women Consultations since 2019. She now serves on the MCSA’s Synodal Committee responsible for evaluating and short listing candidates for the three-man executive of the church. She also serves on the MCSA’s Anti-Gender Based Violence steering committee. In September 2023 she represented the MCSA at the Unity Synod in Cape Town.

Tyrone Hitzeroth, Venus Rasoul, Ulrich Jansen and Jo-Lynn Telling have all represented BBSA at District Conferences of Algoa District 6 of the MCSA. Tyrone Hitzeroth served on the Praesidium of the District Conference from 1998 to 2006, and was re-elected to this position in 2007 and continued to serve in that position until 2012. Justin August served as secretary of the District Council. Jo-Lynn Telling, Justin August and Dorothea Moos also served on the secretariate of the District Conference. In 2009 Tyrone Hitzeroth, Jo-Lynn Telling and Berenice Whitebooi formed the praesidium at the District Conference, whilst Justin August was the secretary of the District Council, Lynne Louis served on the secretariate and Samantha Mostert represented the congregation. Edwin Whitebooi, another former member, represented Gelvandale Congregation at the same conference. Venus Rasoul also served the District Council as the seceratary, and Jo-Lynn Telling served as the assistant secretary. Lynne Louis represented Salem Congregation at the District Conference in 2018 and was then elected to the praesidium.

Fredavor Moos and Errol Moos were ordained as ministers of the MCSA, and Errol Moos went on to become a bishop of the Unitas Fratum. Henry Alexander Hitzeroth and Henry Uithaler have been inducted as accolytes of the MCSA.

Since the band is probably more than 100 years old, it is to be expected that this list is incomplete. This is precisely the purpose of the website, to preserve the information still available to us.
